Rocky Horror Picture Show

Rocky Horror Picture Show depicts imagery that would be considered out of the norm and challenges the idea of normality. Dr.Frank-N-Furter's palace is a place where outcasts can express themselves and be released from the conformity of society. This newly reimagined Rocky Horror Picture show is set sometime during the 60s in a small rural town somewhere in the Midwest. While the outside world is typically suburban midwest America, the inside of Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s palace acts as a portal into a new world. This world pulls inspiration from Expressionist art and German Expressionism films. The mood alludes to the Horror and Sci-fi elements of the story. Setting it during the 60s is fitting for the story considering the ongoing social movements fighting against injustices that were considered the norm.

The characters chosen for this project were Columbia and Eddie, the relationship between the two is depicted as a forbidden love because the two were once Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s lovers but at separate times. Columbia was the first “play toy” and was replaced and overshadowed when Eddie came into the picture. The pattern then continued when Frank-N-Furter got the idea to make Rocky, tossing Eddie aside, Frank then threw him into a freezer. Somewhere in between was when the two developed their relationship. While they didn’t have much time together, Columbia and Eddie’s relationship led to Eddie’s death, ultimately leading to the downfall of Frank-N-Furter due to Eddie’s relationship with Dr. Everett V. Scott.
